If you know me then you know I love boxing, it helps me to burn fat fast but also provides an outlet for stress relief. There’s nothing better than taking out your frustrations on the bag then jumping in the shower ready to face the world again! There are so many benefits of boxing both physical and mental, here are my top 5…
The Cardiovascular benefits: Boxing is a great form of cardio which is important for keeping our hearts healthy. The constant movement helps to build your endurance and gets your heart pumping which helps to burn fat and calories. Boxers will tell you that its more that just getting in the ring and punching the bag, they also incorporate running, skipping and other cardio workouts and as the foundations for their training and this helps to increase stamina.

Stress relief: Research has shown that regular exercises is an effective form of stress management due to the endorphins released when you workout. Boxing is especially good for this, the repeated motion of punching the bag can help you let everything go, clear your mind and and release any tension you’re feeling. At that moment its just you and the bag.
Better Hand-Eye Coordination: A certain level of concentration is needed when boxing that’s even more urgent than with other forms of exercise, because the consequences include you being punched in the face! Boxing causes you to to ensure your eyes, hands (and feet!) are all working together in perfect harmony. Whether its for a combination when working on the pads, shadow boxing or in the ring, boxing helps to build muscle memory and train your mind so you land the right punches at the right time.

Improved Sleep: Boxing is a form of high-intensity cardiovascular exercise and this has been shown to be beneficial for the quality of sleep you get. After a heaving session you’re sure to be worn out and will need the sleep to recover. The continuous and repetitive punching also helps to clear your mind which would help you fall asleep with little distractions
Helps to Build and Tone muscles: Boxing is a great way for building and toning your muscles, both the obvious one such and shoulders and arms but also the muscles involved in performing the punches such as your core and your legs. Boxing training invoice punching heavy bags which can weigh as much as 50KG. This is why boxers also incorporate resistance training to build the strength needed. The more you do this the stronger you will become.
For me boxing is one of the best all-round forms of training. As you can see its more than just punching the bag, it incorporates other types of training and has great mental health benefits as well.
